Safeguarding & Child Protection

The safety and wellbeing of every child attending our creative writing sessions is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where children can express themselves creatively with confidence.

DBS Certification

All sessions are led by a tutor who holds a current Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, suitable for working with children.

Safe Learning Environment

• Sessions are delivered in a structured, supervised setting at all times

• Group sizes are kept small to ensure appropriate attention and support

• Clear behaviour expectations help create a respectful and inclusive space for all participants

Working with Parents and Guardians

• All bookings and communication are made through a parent or guardian

• We do not communicate directly with children outside of sessions

• Parents/carers will be informed about session content, timings, and any relevant updates

Online Safety

For online sessions:

• Classes are delivered via secure platforms (predominantly Zoom)

• Parents/carers are informed in advance and encouraged to supervise where appropriate

• Sessions are not recorded without explicit parental consent

Professional Boundaries

We maintain clear professional boundaries at all times:

• No contact with children via personal social media or private messaging

• Any feedback or follow-up is shared with parents or guardians

Responding to Concerns

Any safeguarding concerns will be taken seriously and handled in line with UK safeguarding guidance, including principles set out by organisations such as the NSPCC.

If a concern arises, appropriate steps will be taken, which may include contacting relevant authorities or support services where necessary.
